The World Photography Organisation has announced the shortlists for the professional, open and youth categories of the 2013 Sony World Photography awards. This year’s competition saw the highest number of submissions to date with more than 122,000 entries from 170 countries. The shortlist offers an insight into an impressive gallery of images. Winners are scheduled to be announced in March and April.
Photographer Rory Carnegie is nominated for the fashion and beauty category, who has also been nominated for his bright portrait from his Mannequin series in the Sony World Photography Awards. Click through to see the full list of shortlisted photos.
Meet Sony’s Cybershot DSC-RX100
We’ve been using a Sony DSC-RX100 for the last few days and have prepared a hands-on preview of the 20MP, 1” sensor compact. Its 13.2 x 8.8mm sensor is over twice the size of most of its peers and, despite this being the same size as Nikon’s 1 system cameras, the RX100 is genuinely pocketable.
